Agent Reboot Honolulu – Key Takeaways for the Savvy Real Estate Professional

Last week, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend Agent Reboot Honolulu and be a part of the panel, “Anatomy of an Agent” put on by Inman Next. Attendees joined together for this one day power conference at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki.

Learn what works at Agent Reboot! Agent Reboot Honolulu at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki (August 15, 2012)

This was one gloriously informative day with thought leaders from all across the country talking about the latest trends and best practices in the world of Technology, Social Media, and Real Estate. Incredibly insightful sessions and presentations from the likes of Sherry Chris from Better Homes and Garden Real Estate, Chris Smith with Inman Next, Kelly Mitchell of Agent Caffeine, and Brad Andersohn at Zillow.

I really enjoyed the conference and took the opportunity to learn more about social media and Real Estate as well as the latest and greatest apps and tools, and the creative ways people are using them. I met some great minds in the social media space and made some wonderful new connections and referral opportunities that I know will continue long after Reboot ends, and as long as I work to foster those relationships.

Agent Reboot Takeaways

There was so much useful information, I wanted to pass along my key takeaways for the savvy Real Estate professional.

1. Know the Latest Technology Tools: Apps! Apps! Apps!

It seems as though everything we do in real estate today is tied to technology and it is so important to know the latest tools that can help you be the best agent possible. My favorite apps that I downloaded immediately and am already using are:

  • Twist
  • Banjo
  • HomeSnap
  • Zite
  • Over
  • Evernote
  • Brewster

2. Have a Social Media Strategy

If you don’t have a Social Media strategy in your business plan…get one! Katie Lance’s ‘Content Strategy’ session was so spot on! Don’t get caught up doing the same old thing over and over again. There are so many ways to get content and you don’t have to write it all yourself!

Write about what others are writing, 30 photos = 30 days of content by choosing 1 photo a day and writing about it. Write about what you love you about your community, or have theme days where you do a similar thing each week. Content is all around you (especially here in Hawaii)!

3. Remember, Real Estate is Still a Relationship Business

If I don’t keep in touch, then yes, it will have all been a waste of time. If I don’t implement anything I learned new, then yes, it was a waste of money. Get out of your comfort zone! At the end of the day, it’s all up to me to make it worthwhile.

Overview

Attending this event confirmed the reasons why I use social media. It was so fun to meet Inman’s online celebrities Chris Smith and Katie Lance IRL (in real life), and take the online connection offline. Plus, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery, sunny weather, and friendly vibes that are the hallmarks of Hawaii!

Aloha!
