The Advantages of Living in Punchbowl – Great Shopping, Popular Restaurants & More

The Punchbowl neighborhood of Honolulu is a great option for first-time buyers or those looking for an investment property. Units in this neighborhood are conveniently located near the freeway, shopping, restaurants, hospitals, and the financial center of Honolulu.

Centrally Located

It’s easy to get on and off the freeway in Punchbowl since the freeway is just a few blocks away. Imagine how great a commute would be from Punchbowl to Downtown Honolulu!

Farmers Markets and Shopping Close By

Those looking for fresh produce and local food can find it at the nearby Honolulu Farmers Market. This market is located in front of the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall every Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 pm. Free parking makes this an easy and quick stop to stop by for fruits and veggies or just a bite to eat. Many local restaurants are here with booths selling customer favorites including pressed juice, plate lunches, and even homemade popsicles.

Another market option is the Kakaako Farmers Market every Saturday from 8 am-12 pm. Besides produce, this market has live entertainment and vendors selling a huge variety of products including baked goods, locally-made cheeses and spreads, fresh smoothies, crepes, nut butters, plants, and flowers. And of course, the seemingly always expanding Ala Moana Center and the shops at Ward are only about five minutes away. You’ll never have an excuse not to shop!

Hidden Neighborhood Gems

Punchbowl and nearby Makiki are home to hidden neighborhood gems such as the nearly 20-year-old Sure Shot Cafe. Opened in 1998, this award-winning small business sells fresh baked pastries and desserts, made-from scratch soups, espresso drinks, shakes, and smoothies.

Other popular (and yummy) restaurants are nearby such as one of my personal favorites, Doraku Sushi. Doraku opened in Ward recently and I love not having to drive into Waikiki to go to the original location. Regulars love the “Doraku roll,” “Brownie Tempura,” and the happy hour specials!

Condo with a View…& a Remodeled Kitchen

All of these reasons make it hard to resist the rare listing I have in Punchbowl, especially because it is move-in ready with ocean views and a remodeled kitchen. My client is selling a 2 bed/2 bath unit at 927 Prospect St #1204 for $625,000.

It’s a corner unit with spectacular ocean views and cross breezes. This 1,312 sq. ft. unit includes a 102 sq. ft. lanai and a brand new kitchen, higher grade wood laminate flooring and tile. This is a unique find in the heart of the city and would make a great starter or investment property.
