How to Access Hawaii Information Service on a Mac

Frustrated over their inability to use your Mac to access Hawaii Information Service?

Currently, in order to use a Mac to access H.I.S. you’ve had to use a virtual machine with either Parallels or Boot Camp.

If you have Snow Leopard, you can now bypass virtual machine using Safari.

Step 1: In Safari, go to preferences >> advanced >> check the show develop menu in menu bar.

Step 2: In the menu bar choose develop >> scroll to user agent >> select the browser version Internet Explorer 7.0. (Safari will pretend it is a browser on a PC).

Step 3: Close Safari or Refresh, and you can now open the H.I.S. Multiple Listing Service. Log in, and now you have access using your Mac.

I still only get limited functionality… the drop box menus don’t work, I can’t press the buttons, etc. You’ll have to show me how it works on yours. Are you able to use everything in HIS? Even maps?

I concur with Matt. Very limited functionality. Firefox released a similar IE application to Safari’s with very limited functionality as well.

This tool is garbage. You can’t properly do searches. Who uses PC’s? Get with the times people.

Thank You for sharing and for figuring this out!
It worked fine for me, perhaps that because I did not sign in as a HIS agent as I am an agent on Oahu, and we have our horrible tempo mls.

I tried searching under tempo and I had limited functions But I was able to use my tax search under tempo so if you have time can you Please come up with a way for Oahu mls users to use tempo on our beloved macs..Fusion works but it is a pain. The board recommends citrix but I have no clue how to do that, anyway our mls is http://www.hicentralmls.com

Thanks!

luckily, HIS is working on compatibility and should have this resolved in the near future!
