20 Reasons the Keiki (and Their Parents) Love Puamana, Maui

1. Puamana, Maui is like belonging to a country club. Forget organizing your kids’ social lives as there are many kid-friendly events on property. No endless calling and scheduling play dates or social events. If you’re looking for social interaction, you can find it at Puamana just by going outside for a walk.

2. Kids are safe – Puamana is a gated community. A security guard patrols the premises on a golf cart and keeps an eye on the kids. The guards know all the kids personally.

3.  Keiki can grab a board and surf and play in the waves out front while the parents can relax on the beach or get out there with them.

4. In the afternoons and evenings, games like hide-and-seek, tag, or kickball will spontaneously happen under the mango tree.

5. Puamana is great for lemonade stands – cookies and brownies – kids spend hours preparing baked goods and making the signs and learn the entrepreneurial spirit.

6. Puamana has 3 swimming pools – the Dolphin pool is the kid-friendly pool and is best for the youngest of kids. Note to parents: The Ocean Pool is supposed to be for peace and quiet!

7. Kids love to ride bikes, scooters, or skateboards up and down the lane.

8. There’s so much to do at the Clubhouse with a collection of games and kid’s books… keiki are often heard playing the piano (carefully!) or strumming the ukulele in the courtyard.

9. Halloween! Puamana will usually throw a cocktail party. Kids love to go down to Front Street at 4:30 and participate in the parade, then come back and trick or treat around Puamana. I’ve heard from the kids that some homeowners give out candy bars, and when visitors aren’t prepared, they give out dollar bills.

10. is Puamana has a super fun Easter egg hunt, and the Easter bunny even comes in a golf cart for photo ops.

11. Keiki Sports Day is a big draw – this is during homeowner’s week and we even have a few return renters who bring their kids every year for this fun event. The kids also have their very own “Keiki Art Day” during homeowners’ week.

12. Santa visits the clubhouse every year. The clubhouse is decorated for the holiday and we hold events for the kids. I’ve heard parents say Puamana takes the pressure off of them trying to make everything cheery and festive.

13. Campout! Twice a year the kids set up tents, we turn off the spinklers, and have a camp out under the mango trees with an adult chaperone. Kids make ‘smoores and tell scary stories…and we take lots of photos to preserve those Hallmark moments!

14. Puamana provides free events like movie night. Kids sit outside under the stars and watch the big screen.

15. New Years is family friendly and safe at Puamana! Think “Puamana’s Got Talent” show  – the ball drops and we count down to midnight at 10pm! Perfect for the keiki (actually the kids are usually all revved up. Let’s be honest, it’s perfect for us older folk!).

16. Puamana is pet-friendly and there are some neighborhood regulars.

17. The ocean view gym is a big draw for the parents! Puamana has tennis courts, badminton, and shuffleboard.

18. You can barbecue on your patio!

19. Kids and parents make friends and bond with returning families over the years.

20. Puamana has great homeowners, a solid board, and cool families!

Honorable mention: Puamana has a newsletter! My daughter and I created the “Keiki Korner” pages used here in the blog for the Puamana Newsletter.

When I get in my car on Monday morning, I’ll literally find spider webs on the tires. That’s how much we enjoy hanging out in Puamana on the weekends!

As a full-time resident and homeowner at Puamana for over 13 years, I am available to answer any questions you might have on our community.
