Rumor has it that people live longer and happier lives in Hawaii. The question then is why? It is quite possible that these people, who have decided to plant their feet on one of the great islands of Hawaii, live every day with the following list in mind.
Did You Know?
1. People who laugh a lot are healthier than those who don’t. Laughter is medicine for the soul. It has been proven in research that those who laugh more on a regular day basis are healthier than those who don’t take moments in their day to have a little lighthearted fun.
2. Laziness and inactivity will kill just as many people as smoking. Don’t be a couch potato or don’t be the person whose exercise for the day is walking from your car to the office. In Hawaii, there is definitely plenty of walking!
3. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day and while you walk…smile. It’s the ultimate anti-depressant. Walking through the streets of Hawaii, you are greeted by the fresh, island breeze, the ocean waves, and friendly locals.
4. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts, or things you can’t control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive, present moment. Jim Eliot once said, “Wherever you are, be all there.” Time is precious and valuable. Be 100% present wherever you are. In today’s generation, we are either consumed too much by the past, the future, or even our social media lives. When you decide to live presently, you will truly experience life! Even the mundane and the every day small things will become valued. And, it is guaranteed that by living presently, you will have more joy.
5. Don’t take yourself too seriously, nobody else does. It’s always good to let loose a little bit.
6. Don’t compare your life to others…you have no idea what their journey is all about. We are all walking different paths. Focus on the life that you have been given and cherish that gift.
7. No matter how good or bad a situation is, it will change. C.S. Lewis once stated, “Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back you realize just how much has changed.” It’s true. Life is a rollercoaster. There will be good seasons and there will be difficult ones. Keep pressing on.
8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out credit card. All I can say is aren’t you glad there are Macadamia nut pancakes for breakfast?
9. There are at least 6 people in the world who look exactly like you and there is a 9% chance you will meet one of them in your lifetime. With all of the tourists from around the world visiting Hawaii, you might just meet 1 of those 6 people while you are living in Hawaii.
10. Your shoes are the first thing people subconsciously notice about you…wear nice shoes. In Hawaii, you can wear a nice pair of sandals and send a message that says, “I feel quite relaxed here.”
If you come and live in Hawaii, this list can be a part of your life!
Aloha!
