Aliomanu Estates is a luxury acreage development with immediate sandy beach access on Kauai. Positioned on the northeast coastline, Aliomanu Estates is comprised of 58 homesites on 250 acres of agricultural land and offers many advantages to those who live there. Here are a handful of reasons why to love this ocean-to-mountain view, coastal community.
1. Immediate Beach Access
Aliomanu Estates is one of only a few planned communities on Kauai that offers immediate and convenient beach access. Located in the middle of Aliomanu Estates, the beach access road leads to a paved parking lot. Follow the meandering trail for less than 3 minutes to arrive at sandy Aliomanu Beach.
From there, walk along in either direction to find a spot for the day. There are several surf breaks along the coastline. Flags surf break is accessible directly from Aliomanu Estates.
2. The Views
Tucked between the ocean and the Anahola mountains on Kauai’s northeast coastline, the 250-acre Aliomanu Estates neighborhood offers sweeping makai-to-mauka (ocean-to-mountain) vistas as well as beautiful sunrises. The community’s relatively flat topography, which subtly slopes towards the water, creates broad ocean view planes for the individual acreage parcels. The lack of street lights, telephone poles, and density lends itself to an undisturbed, rural lifestyle.
Views of famed Kalalea Mountain are prized. Comprised of two distinct peaks — Hokualele and Mano — the mountain itself holds a significant place in Hawaiian culture.* Mano, translating to “shark” in Hawaiian for its fin-like appearance, is also known as “Kong” after its resemblance to the profile of Hollywood’s infamous King Kong. One may even recognize Mano’s unique formation from its cameos in films such as, “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Six Days, Seven Nights,” and “Tropic Thunder.”
3. Location
Aliomanu Estates offers the best of both worlds – convenience and privacy! Located on Kauai’s northeast shoreline, Aliomanu Estates is just a 10-minute drive north of Kapaa Town’s shopping, dining, activities, grocery stores, and Kauai Bike Path. With Kilauea Town only another 12-minute drive further north, Aliomanu Estates serves as the de facto gateway to the North Shore. Lihue Airport is less than a half-hour drive away.
The community’s positioning near Kuhio Highway (HI-56) offers easy accessibility. Yet, the parcels’ acreage grants tranquility and privacy. Also, Aliomanu Estate’s location on the northeast coast naturally captures the cooling tropical tradewinds and carries the soothing sounds of the ocean inland for residents to enjoy.
4. Horse-Friendly
Aliomanu Estates is equestrian-friendly. The larger-sized acreage estate parcels coupled with Aliomanu’s drier microclimate creates an ideal scenario for equestrian activities. Per the community guidelines, owners are able to keep one horse per acre “with a barn constructed for their care and shelter.” Adding to the equestrian vibe, Aliomanu Estates features dark tan horizontal farm fencing throughout the community, bringing a cohesive look to the neighborhood.
5. Ideal Weather
Aliomanu’s micro-climate offers sunnier, drier weather than other locations, making it an ideal spot for gardening, sustainably growing fruits and vegetables, and enjoying the outdoors in general.
When Kauai’s sub-tropical rain can impede outdoor activities, Aliomanu’s drier micro-climate really shines. In fact, the Aliomanu area typically receives 50 inches of annual rainfall. Whereas areas further north or inland can expect 80-120 inches of rain annually.
Mangoes love this area for its “just-right” amount of sun and rain and can be found growing in many of the community’s estate properties. In fact, Aliomanu Estates is home to one of the well-known organic farms on Kauai, Wooten Family Farms. Growing produce or maintaining landscaping in Aliomanu Estates is even further aided by the subdivision’s discounted, private AG water.
