Anyone who’s visited Ka’anapali, Maui, knows that it’s a dream location for a vacation. White sandy beaches, unbelievable shops and restaurants, and outstanding golf courses are just a few of the reasons why Ka’anapali is one of the best places on Maui. Now just imagine living here full-time. With several well-established neighborhoods and schools nearby, your dream could become a reality!
Spotlight on Two Premiere West Maui Neighborhoods
The spotlight today is on two of the most beautiful neighborhoods in West Maui. Located in the heart of Ka’anapali, Ka’anapali Hillside and Ka’anapali Golf Estates are two neighborhoods my family has lived in and love. Keep reading to find out what makes them such wonderful places to live!
Ka’anapali Hillside
When we first moved to Maui, we were looking for a family-friendly neighborhood where our four kids and dog would feel at home, and we found it in the hillside! The Ka’anapali Hillside neighborhood is a well-appointed subdivision of approximately 150 properties. Many of the homes in this neighborhood have great views of the ocean and West Maui Mountains. Although this neighborhood is not gated, there are lower HOA fees than similar neighborhoods, a beautiful park to play bocce ball or have your dog run around, and you’ll find a tight-knit community of neighbors to socialize with.
The average home size in Ka’anapali Hillside is about 3,000+ sf, with most homes having two-car garages and many with refreshing swimming pools to enjoy. The award-winning Ka’anapali Beach, arguably one of the most famous beaches in Hawaii, is just a few minutes away from this great community. You also have easy access to the beautiful Airport Beach which is only minutes away. Many residents own golf carts and frequently take them to the beach or nearby shops. Convenience is key in this neighborhood!
Ka’anapali Golf Estates
If you’re looking for a serene, private, gated community on the West Side, look no further than the Ka’anapali Golf Estates; it doesn’t get much better than this! Located just above the world-renowned Ka’anapali resorts, these homes boast larger lots and home sizes than those in Ka’anapali Hillside with average square footage ranging from 3,000 to 4,000+ sf.
Golf Anyone?
For those who love to play golf (or love to watch people play golf), Ka’anapali Golf Estates is the neighborhood for you! Located right across the street from Ka’anapali Resort, most of the gorgeous homes in this neighborhood have stunning views of the ocean and mountains. Several homes are located right on the beautiful Kai and Royal Ka’anapali Golf Courses. One of my children plays golf year-round and can walk to the course from our house! It’s definitely one of the highlights of living in this incredible neighborhood.
Both Communities Close to Ka’anapali Shops & Restaurants
Known for their award-winning restaurants and exquisite shops, Ka’anapali is a desired destination for anyone visiting Maui. One of the best parts about living in one of these two neighborhoods is by far the proximity to the unbelievable shops and restaurants at Whalers Village and the stunning Ka’anapali Beach. If you want to take a catamaran sail, they depart right from the beach! Feel like going paddle boarding or snorkeling? You’ll have quick and easy access to the beach. Or maybe you’re due for a much-deserved spa treatment. You’ll find countless resort spas ready to help you relax. Schools and clinics are within 15 minutes of these neighborhoods too, which make it such a convenient place to plant your roots. By living in Ka’anapali, you can enjoy everything West Maui has to offer!
As someone who has lived in both of these fantastic neighborhoods, I would love to represent you in the sale or purchase of a home here. Please reach out if you have any questions about either of these outstanding neighborhoods or anything pertaining to Maui. I would be happy to share my experiences and assist you in any way I can. Your dream is waiting!

What is the price range in each of these neighborhoods? How often do you see fixer uppers with great views? What do utilities, taxes and insurance cost? Thank you.
