I grew up in the Poipu Kai community on Pe’e St. A hidden treasure along the sunny south shore of Kauai. My childhood was filled with running down the sidewalk to Shipwrecks Beach at 7am to check the surf before school, learning how to ride my bike on the luscious Poipu Kai green belt (photo below), forced tennis lessons at the tennis club which I now wish I took seriously, having all of my single-digit birthday parties at the community pool and an infinite amount of dog walking for my neighbors for extra cash. Poipu Kai Association offers great benefits to its homeowners, 24-hour security. My mother, who is now retired and living in the same house, loves the fact that she has a recycling center one block away as well as trash removal twice a week. The green belt starts from Poipu beach park and takes you down to Shipwrecks beach. Strolling down the walkway with beach chairs and a chilled bottle of wine is one of our favorite ways to catch the sunset or do some whale watching. The green belt sidewalks have lights along the way to guide you back home safely.
Poipu Kai Water Reclamation Corporation provides an on-property sewer treatment plant that services the members of Poipu Kai Association and The Point at Poipu resort. The plant is located on Lanai Villas lot 13 which is owned by the Corporation. Aqua Engineers, a Kauai company, is contracted to provide daily management of the sewer treatment plant.
The Poipu Kai Racquet Club consists of several buildings/structures, a parking lot, eight (8) tennis courts, a tennis pro shop, a swimming pool and spa, and landscaped properties in the northwestern corner of the resort. One of the buildings houses a restaurant (Kalapaki Joe’s), a leasable room (The Lanai Room) and administrative offices. You can read more about Poipu Kai Association here.
