One Roof, Two Homes | Multigenerational Living in Honolulu

Living on an island with a big family can be a challenge, the lack of room and the demand for homes in the Honolulu Metro Area increases year by year, while the chances of getting a property close to your mom and pops decreases.

Multigenerational homes give you the advantage of having your family close building strong bonds between them, without losing your independence.

  • Promoting financial well-being, taking care of one house instead of two
  • Grandparents feeling more engage and useful when they can provide help to their children and grandchildren
  • Supporting your kid while he or she finishes school
  • Home security

These are a couple of advantages of having a multigenerational house. 2956 Papali Pl. has 2 separate kitchens, dining rooms, living areas even the entrances are completely separate from each other.

Living Areas

The first home is located downstairs with its own private access, separate living area with a full kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and 1 parking spot on the side.

Master Bedrooms

The second Home has a big garage with room for 2 cars, 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms upstairs along with a large living area, full kitchen, and a luscious garden.

Garden

Being committed to your family can be tough; accommodating all the family without losing your privacy and independence is a challenge. Multigenerational homes can help you bring your family together, making your life easier.

Because in Hawaii, family is what it’s all about!

Hello Gaby!
You’ve nailed it already with one try. Beautiful home/in-law and garden PLUS a lovely view. AND location.

How long does it take to actually purchase a home in HI? Our kids have only rented there for 9 years, never purchased. We qualify for a VA loan with a good down.

We plan to sell in California the end of the year. We’ve had quite a few people show interest and it’s not on the marked plus I’m not even retired yet nor have I begun to pack.

Thank you for your quick and amazing response. We look forward to hearing from you again.

> Hi Jackie and Dennis,

Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed my blog post! I’m going to reply by email as well, but typically in our market it takes between 30-45 days to close on a home. Our VA loan limit in Hawaii with $0 down is also the highest in the nation at $726,525 which means that if you purchase a home over that number, you’ll only have to put 25% down which for this home that would be approximately $31,000.

I wish you the best with your home sale in California! Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with. We also know many great agents in California and I’m happy to send you a referral if needed.

I look forward to hearing from you. Aloha.

-Gaby
