New Developments of Waihonua, The Collection & Ward Village – An Exciting Time in Honolulu
Waihonua, The Collection, Ward Village, oh my! Too many, too fast? What about the value of the new project I JUST purchased in? Does my new project home have value? There’s a Whole Foods coming!!!
So much excitement, and so little time to enjoy it. Looking across the Honolulu city skyline, a lot is going to be changing around Honolulu, and it’s up to you if you want to be one of the few, select trendsetters in one of the nation’s casually metropolitan cities.
The city of Kakaako
Hawaii is known for its beaches, “Island Time,” Waikiki, landscape, movie scenes, but it is so much more. Watching the craziness of new commercial businesses coming to our small town big city, it’s amazing that, finally, we are on the international map for residential development.
Waihonua – Up, Up, and Away!
As you know by now, I’ve purchased a unit in Waihonua, in one of the most prestigious portions of Kakaako. I am excited because Waihonua is sold out AND anyone who purchased in this building is most likely going to make a lot of moolah, money, dough, scratch. Which means, maybe I have a piece of that?
It’s up, up, and away for Waihonua
This building is unique because it came on market at a time when our market was down, when people were uncertain of where the future of Honolulu’s real estate was going, and when the developer (Alexander and Baldwin) priced it as well as they could. This building did not sell out in the first year, or even the second year, but all predictions point to up.
Upwards in that the building is nearly topped off, upwards in prices investors may be able to sell their units for when it’s finished, upwards in that the interest rate is not at the ten year high we thought it would be. Whoever got on this gravy train is definitely in for an exciting ride.
The Collection – Easy Come, Easy Go
This is an interesting development. It reeks of being second to Waihonua, but again, I still wanted one. What I like about this development is that it is in the very artsy, eclectic “Salt Honolulu” area, that in all honesty, has the makings of all things fun.
Views from The Collection
Kamehameha Schools has been very selective in the tenants they decide are “worthy” for that artsy reputation. Great choices they have made in florist, Paiko, bar, Bevy, and interior design store, Quince. New residents will have so many choices available, and an easy entrance into downtown.
Has anyone ever truly addressed the traffic issue? I don’t know about you, but I love an easy exit, which means Waihonua and The Collection may very well be your choice in the claustrophobia that will become Kakaako.
Ward Village – Honolulu’s Wonder Building
Speaking with the sales agents at this amazing architecture-wonder-of-a-building, you’d think this is going to knock Hawaii right onto the world map. I agree. There is so few buildings that offer a true ocean view. As far as ocean views go, I’d have to say that the Pacific Ocean is one of the very best.
Discussing Honolulu’s wonder building
Steps away from the world famous Ala Moana Beach, this building offers class, elegance, and a completely different building that exudes fun and opulence. They only offer the best finishes, the best architecture, the best of everything Honolulu has to offer in a building.
Chef’s kitchen for entertaining, you’ll find it does not let any of its key features go to waste. Howard Hughes first major development here, I know they will knock this one out of the park – and Honolulu onto the world’s stage for extravagance.
Additional Information
There are so many new buildings coming out just waiting to be purchased. I want to know if everyone is purchasing only one unit? One unit in each building? It’s an exciting time in Honolulu. It’s all up to you whether you decide to step into the trend or watch. Let me know if you’d like more information on each of these featured new developments in Kakaako.

My husband has been offered a job in Hawaii, on Pearl Harbor. We have a 12 year-old son and we live in a large 3200 sq ft home with a nice sized yard. What is the prognosis for living in Hawaii for us mainlanders who are spoiled rotten? BTW, our home is $245K.
Do you advise a lot of clients who come from the States?

I do have a lot of clients that move here from the continental US. Quite a bit, at least 20% of my clients are moving from there. It’s challenging, but I do understand spoiled rotten. Everything is time or money. If you are willing to live on the west side of the island, Kapolei, Makakilo, Ewa Beach, it’s not too bad. It’s actually not that bad if your husband will be working at Pearl Harbor as far as traffic. Very easy to get there from the West side. We can chat more if you like? Feel free to email me at caron@hawaiilife.com 🙂 or you can call me. Take care and looking forward to chatting more!
