Maui Weekend Events – September 30, 2022

Happy Aloha Friday! This weekend ushers in the fall with some great events. We have two options for celebrating Octoberfest this Saturday. Kohola Brewery celebrates the release of their Oktoberfest brew and Maui Brewing partners with the Maui Humane Society for Barktober. If you’re ready for dress-up already, Octoberfest attire is encouraged for Barktoberfest and Mulligan’s on the Blue is hosting Maui’s Exclusive Masquerade Ball. Additionally this weekend, we have the 15th Annual Maui Ukulele Festival. The Maui Arts & Cultural Center hosts a workshop conducted by Roy Sakuma this Saturday with the festival taking place on Sunday.

Barktoberfest

The first annual Barktoberfest takes place this Saturday from 12:00 – 6:00 pm. The Maui Humane Society and Maui Brewing partner to bring you beer garden, live music and wiener dog races. Dressing for Octoberfest is strongly encouraged. This is a 21 and over event and while there will be dogs at the event, Covid protocols require that your pets stay at home for this one.

Octoberfest

If you’re on the West Side, you can stay local and still celebrate Octoberfest. This Saturday from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Kohola Brewery celebrates the release of their Oktoberfest beer. Festivities include games, food, beer and prizes. Traditional Octoberfest fare of brats, sausages and jumbo pretzels will be served.  Participate in pretzel eating contests, relays and more.

15th Annual Maui Ukulele Festival

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center offers a FREE afternoon of island music on the lawn at the A&B Amphitheater.  This Sunday beginning at 3:00 pm, the annual Ukulele Festival brings together a great lineup of ukulele players including school bands. The festival is available online as well as in person. In person guests also enjoy prize giveaways, local art and craft displays and local food available for purchase.

Free Ukulele Workshop

Head to the MACC on Saturday for a FREE Ukulele Workshop conducted by Roy Sakuma! The workshop will take place in the Morgado Hall at 11:00 am. Registration starts at 10:30 am for students of all ages and levels. It is recommended that students bring their own ukulele and be able to hold C, F, G7 chords.

Maui’s Exclusive Masquerade Ball

This Saturday night, head over to Mulligan’s on the Blue for a dress to impress masquerade ball. DJ Daniel Illz will be spinning beats from 8:00 pm – 1:00 am. This is a 21 and over event.
