Konea 614 is now known as Haunani, which in Hawaiian means “heavenly dew.” My wife and I felt this was an appropriate name as the property looks directly at Mauna Kahalawai (the house of water), or better known but less eloquent, The West Maui Mountains, which are a lush backdrop all year long where Anuenue (rainbows) frequently live. Mauna Kahalawai is the source for much the life in West Maui; it is a sacred and angelic place on Maui.

A few days after closing and our deep cleaning of the property, we had our very first guests stay for a week. I just talked to them this afternoon; they had a wonderful experience – so much so that they are considering purchasing their own property at Honua Kai. One of the most compelling design elements at Honua Kai is the implementation of the wide opening Nanna doors (above photo) which make the living area feel even larger, they invite outdoors in, and creates the constant reminder of how privileged you are to be where you are in the moment.

Haunani will comfortably sleep two adults in the king bedroom with ensuite bathroom and another 2 smaller humans on the full sized pull out sofa sleeper in the living room. It is equipped with a full kitchen with just about all of the comforts and gadgets you need. “Winter” Weather in Maui is Much Better

I felt bad a couple times when talking to Eric Roger as we went through the purchasing process and he would say to me “It’s not too bad today, it’s up to 9 degrees.” My spine shuttered and I was taken aback over 10 years ago when I was in business school in Boston – it seemed like the sun would never come out again and winter would never end. I do have to give myself the proverbial pinch when something in my day throws me off track and I begin to grumble – it doesn’t get much better than calling Maui home, I was born/raised here and it never gets old.

Working with Eric and Joulet was a memorable and rewarding experience; Megan and I are looking forward to strengthening our bond even further as we maximize their investment’s rental potential.
