The Kohala Coast has beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
One of the many bonuses of living on the Big Island of Hawaii is the marvelous sunrises and sunsets one gets living on the west side of the island. The Kupunas (Hawaiian for grandparents) were out paddling on Kawaihae Bay early Monday morning, and we were greeted with this beautiful sunrise (pictured below) over Mauna Kea while sitting and waiting for a whale sighting. The photo was taken by fellow paddler and artist Charlotte Nairn. The beauty of the Big Island is often beyond words…you draw your own conclusion.
If you would like to experience sights such as these you might want to consider looking to purchase a lot within the gated oceanfront subdivision called Kohala Waterfront. Located just three miles north of the Port of Kawaihae, a person purchasing a southern exposure lot may witness sunrises such as this.
Of course, whale watching would be just an extra…as we saw about a half dozen in various pods…with one surfacing about 50 feet from the canoes. What a glorious way to start your Big Island day!
Aloha from the best island, the Big Island of Hawaii!
