Maui Kai is a great complex for many reasons, only one of which is that maintenance fees are lower than other beachfront condos. True, Maui Kai is older than most of the other high-rise condos (it was built in 1970), and some of its units are not up-to-date. Also, residents must use community washers and dryers in the hall, and the pool is rather small.
That said, the complex is located on a narrow section of beach, adjacent to wider beach areas, overlooking a low seawall between the beach and the building. This is one of the only Maui condo buildings where practically every room is beach-front, with great ocean views. There are 79 studio and one-bedroom units in the 10-story, air-conditioned building.
