Interview with a Maui Realtor, Steve Nickens has been calling Maui home for 50 years.
Maui is a special place to call home, it’s all about living the island life. Having raised four, now adult children with their own families our Ohana is full. My wife Ivy was born in Honolulu but raised on Maui. We live in Haiku just up the street from where Ivy was raised. We live on two acres with the home we built 32 years ago. We really enjoy the peace and quiet of Haiku, gardening, and just ten minutes away from the surf at Hookup Beach Park. I grew up in Hermosa Beach and Encinitas California, surfing, attending college in San Diego, and enjoying the golden years in California.
After traveling through Mexico and Puerto Rico surfing. My good friend I grew up with invited me to visit Maui in 1973 which I never left. Living in Lahaina, surfing everyday, waiting tables at night. After a couple years I got into construction and got my contractors license. My brother Cliff and I started Nickens Interiors. We had an interior store in Makawao Town for 18 years before going into real estate.
So this is a little window into my Maui life. I have been so fortunate to call Maui my home all these years. On the real estate side I have worked on some amazing projects over the years like Wailea Beach Villas, Hoolei Wailea, Papali Wailea on sales teams, among other projects in Wailea and on Maui’s Northshore. If you have questions about buying, or selling real estate on Maui I work island-wide. I work for Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers, located in the Shops at Wailea, and we have an office in Paia Maui if you want to meet on the North Shore. See you soon.
