A group of local Kauai professionals will come together this Thursday (3/15/12) to present two free informational workshops entitled, Home Ownership Now. The workshops will be held on March 15th at the Lihue Plantation Building, located behind the Lihue Post Office on Rice Street.
The first workshop begins at 4:30PM and on-site registration starts at 4PM. The second workshop begins at 7:00PM and runs until 9PM. The workshop runs 1 hour 45 minutes with time at the completion to answer participant’s questions.
I’ve invited several of my industry collaborators to provide information and answer questions to new and experienced home buyers. I’ll discuss today’s Kauai real estate market, and offer tips and guidance for buyers interested in purchasing a short sale or bank-owned property. These properties are often the most attractively priced opportunities on island. When great deals come on to the market, they don’t last long. I’ll explain how you can be prepared.

1. David Parry works with Axa Financial Advisors in Lihue. David will discuss proper budgeting and explain the financial basis for insuring your mortgage, so that you and your family are protected.
2. Sharon Gerber is the branch manager of Innerwork Mortgage in Lihue. Sharon will discuss the process of loan pre-approval and review many of the creative options for purchasing a home today. Homeowners who have significant equity in their home may want to learn how they can use that equity towards the purchase of additional property for their family or for investment.
3. J. Michael Ratcliffe is an attorney with Seniors Law Program in Lihue. Michael will discuss the implications and utilization of life estates and trusts. It’s important to know what to do with your real estate holdings so that your real estate is handled properly upon your passing. It’s a complicated subject and Michael Ratcliffe will make it funny and entertaining. Come and see.
