With our high season for visitors just around the corner, maybe you’re thinking this is the time to sell your home? When preparing to go to market, there are a few things you should do to maximize your sale price potential:
1. Start with the outside curb appeal. The goal is to make your home as close to “picture perfect” for both listing photos and showings. Be sure your landscaping is neat and trimmed. Are the driveway and walkways clean and clear? Pressure washing can make a huge difference too.
2. Declutter. Inside, you may have heard the term “declutter.” Maybe start by taking out that oversized chair in the room. Clutter items make rooms look smaller and can turn a buyer off. Too many personal photos on the wall, counters, and tables? Prospective buyers may not be interested in taking a trip down your memory lane. By removing and storing these items, it can help a buyer visualize their own personal touches in the space.
3. Pack and store. If you can’t throw out some of your treasures, pack and store. You will be packing anyway when you’re sold! Clear the counters of personal care products in the bathrooms. The kitchen should always look clean and clear of dirty dishes and food products.
4. Fresh flowers are always nice. Perhaps you have them growing in your yard or pick some up at your local farmers market.
