Concierge Auctions is partnering with Hawaii Life to auction my very favorite oceanfront Kailua Kona home in January 2018. If you look at the Concierge website, you will notice two auctions, as these akamai (savvy) sellers purchased the lot adjacent to the residence to protect their privacy and view place. Both the home and lot are up for auction.
Kailua Kona Concierge Auction: Pod-style oceanfront compound and adjacent lot to the left
It is rare to find an oceanfront Kailua Kona property that is along Alii Drive but not adjacent to it, and therefore sheltered from street view and noise. Ke Alohi Kai consists of a handful of lots and beautiful homes built on a small peninsula with a gated entrance on Alii Drive. This might be the best location at Ke Aloha Kai with easy access to the water.
Architect – Designed Pod-Style Home of Treasured Ohia Wood
The classic Hawaiʻian oceanfront lifestyle is that “little grass shack,” where one can live comfortably with sand on your feet, dine al fresco, and enjoy the sound of the waves rocking you to sleep at night. The contemporary luxury version of the lifestyle begins with extensive use of carefully curated wood from the native ʻōhia, the first tree to grow on lava rock. It is as if Hale Ohia Kai sprang organically in its setting.
Pocketing doors open the lanai and dining table fully to the great room with kitchen and living area.
The great room and master bedroom open directly to the pool and multiple areas for relaxing and enjoying passing canoes, sea turtles, dolphins or even whales in season. The three guest bedrooms are each housed as separate pods to the rear of the main pod.

I have had the pleasure of spending an evening watching the sunset and enjoying good company on the lanai and can attest to the privacy and ease of entertaining. The residence comes fully furnished, for you to move in immediately, or set up as a luxury rental.
How to Bid on Ke Alohi Kai – Kona Oceanfront Auction Property
If you are wondering whether you might get a deal on the oceanfront property, Iʻve written many blog posts on the Concierge Auction process and how it works to establish a market price and enable the owner to sell in their desired time frame.
Key things to remember are:
- Know your comparable sales, and remember that you will pay a 12% buyer premium on top of your bid amount
- You must put a deposit up front to bid but do not have to be physically present.
- If you are confident enough to put in an opening bid, you can help to offset your buyer premium.
If all of this sounds confusing, no worries…it costs you nothing additional to be represented by a local real estate agent. Feel free to give me a call or email directly.
