As the new year has rolled in, so have several massive swells, many of which have been coupled with beautiful weather, offering up ideal big wave surf conditions.

During one of these recent swells, the brave ones among us took to their foil boards to surf these mountains of water. Our friends who undertake this cutting edge sport describe an experience where the combination of the speed, the lack of any resistance when gliding across the water and the height of the elevated surfboard give a sensation of flying. With more big swells and ideal weather forecast in the coming days, the big wave surf and foil community are getting ready for more this weekend.
