Aloha friends! Happy 4th of July weekend on Maui. No race this weekend. We have a bye. But we have some fun options to choose from. The always anticipated Makawao Stampede Rodeo is the star of the weekend. Rodeo starts Friday and finishes with championships on Sunday. Local favorite comedian, Tumua, will be performing at the MACC this Friday night. Maui Ocean Center partners with the Marine Institute to present Coral Spawning Night.
Makawao Stampede Rodeo
The Parade and Stampede Rodeo took off last week with the Parade on Saturday. Chili cook off takes place on Wednesday at the Oskie Rice Arena beginning at 4:00 pm. Friday, the rodeo starts! Gates open at 3:00 pm. Concert starts at 5:00 pm and the fan favorite bull bash starts at 7:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday, gates open at 10:00 am and show starts at 11:00. Rodeo performance begins at 1:00 pm. Championship performance on Sunday. Food, crafts, and prizes make for fun and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
Tickets for sale at Etix. VIP passes are all sold out already. Friday general admission tickets selling for $50 with discounts for kupuna and keiki. General Admission tickets for Saturday and Sunday are running at $40 with discounts for kupuna and keiki. Children under 5 get in free.
Tumua
Tumua brings his Warrior Tour to Maui with two shows this Friday at the MACC. If he has not come across your Instagram feed, you have missed some laughs. He’s really funny. First show starts at 7:30 and second at 9:00 pm. Pre-concert food and beverage available for purchase beginning at 5:00 pm.
Coral Spawning Night at the Maui Ocean Center
The Maui Ocean Center partners with the Marine Institute to present Coral Spawning Night on Saturday night. Experience the magic of coral spawning. The reproduction coincides with the lunar cycle and the timing is right. However, spawning is not guaranteed. Marine naturalists will be on hand to answer questions. Features include presentations, interactive activities and live music. Food and beverages available for purchase. 10% of ticket sales donated to the Marine Institute.
