This past Friday was a banner day on Kalanianaole Highway from Sea Life Park to Waimanalo. Hawaii Life brokers, real estate agents, Mortgage Consultants and “Kim’s Friends” cleaned the whole highway — including the kitchen sink!
Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup Succes
Hawaii Life hosted another very successful Adopt-A-Highway trash cleanup along the east side of Oahu. Making sure our trash stays out of the road and direct transports to the ocean (through storm drains, etc.) and keeping our freshwater sources drinkable and clean from potentially harmful toxins and pollutants.
It has been very motivating to continue this practice every single day, not just on the days when the community gathers. Litter not only impacts our direct environment as an eyesore but is extremely important to keep human and marine life safe and healthy. Whenever we gather to collect together for Adopt-A-Highway, it feels fulfilling and encouraging for a cleaner future for our keiki. It also sets a precedent for tourists and visitors to follow by example by treating the aina with respect.
More information about keeping our island trash-free is sourced here at Storm Water Hawaii.
