Maui Weekend Events November 17

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui brings you a special edition of the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival on Saturday night. ProArts Maui is offering a donation-based yoga class Friday morning. Saturday night, enjoy the crooning of local Nara Boone. On Sunday, Eric Gilliom’s “White Hawaiian” takes stage in the afternoon and Improv featuring JD Walsh in the evening. The Maui County American Job Center is hosting a career and resource fair at the Queen Kaahumanu Center.

Not weekend related, but I wanted to put on your radar that a recent rule change has lowered the required down payment for multiunit properties to 5%. This could open doors for new homeowners on Maui. Another quick business resource update is that MEO is offering bridge grants to businesses affected by the wildfires.

Humble Market Kitchin by Roy Yamaguchi and Wailea Beach Resort host a gourmet giving getaway this Saturday night. Taste our Love for Maui is a special edition of the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival. 100% of ticket sales from this event will be donated to the Kokua Restaurant & Hospitality Fund. This provides much-needed support to hospitality workers who have been affected by the wildfires. General admission tickets are $250 and Priority Access $350. My very own cousin, Troy Guard, is one of the headlining chefs for this dinner. We will see you all there!

ProArts Playhouse Maui

ProArts Playhouse is offering a donation-based yoga class for the arts community. Classes to be held every Friday in November at 11 am. Friday evening, soak in the gorgeous singing of local Nara Boone. Nara was the lead vocalist for Ulalena for 10 years and has headlined and guested with several local favorite bands. Show starts at 7:30 pm. Saturday night features the screening of the cult classic horror comedy Blood Diner. Film starts at 7:30 pm. Sunday afternoon brings the return of Eric Gilliom’s “White Hawaiian”. This show is so in demand that is will be featured weekly on Sundays. Start time this week is 3:00 pm. This Sunday night is the Improv Monthly Showcase featuring JD Walsh. Show starts at 7:00 pm and doors open at 6:30 pm.
