In the recent (CRS) Certified Residential Specialist magazine there was a short article with the result of a ‘Community Preference Survey’ done by the National Association of Realtors.
Understandably, it was found that more and more Americans are preferring to live in walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods with easy access to local amenities, rather than driving to and from an out of town location. It stated that nearly 3 out of 5 home buyers said they were willing to sacrifice square footage and choose a smaller home if its location promised less commute.
Well, here on Oahu, this is not really news, for although we are blessed with so many wonderful recreational areas, local beaches or shopping, which are really not that far away in actual miles, the usable land is at a high premium and density prevails as needed to accommodate all who need or want to be nearby. Thus, high rise condominiums have become a preference, even to those with families.
Honolulu has a variety of condo opportunities for those who want to be near or apart of the busy downtown areas
Great for the nearby office, and at the end of the day strolling back to your condo, enjoying a beverage, and looking out toward the Aloha Tower and the ocean from your lanai is a Harbor Court condo.
Adjacent to the city is Kaka’ako, an area of transition, where demand for a new land use has been in process. A lifestyle is available where many can easily walk to the Ala Moana Beach Park, Magic Island, and Ala Moana Shopping Center (Hawaii’s largest shopping center).
Moving right along in its construction, with a completion date scheduled for this coming November, is the Pacifica-Honolulu. I will be happy to send you the latest details and available price list. The units have been steadily going into firm escrows with selections growing slimmer, proof that with the capability, demand is high and sales are happening! It is a beautiful developer project and Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers and I would represent you, the buyer.
Yes, as the CRS Realtor article states, having the option to walk and not drive is a main reason for the rise in interest across America for being nearby work and amenities. A high rise condominium is a logical choice for many here in Hawaii. I am sure there is one just waiting to fulfill your requirements.
Choose an area of interest, and a gallery of available properties will be personally made for you. I look forward to having our own “Talk Story” time, discussing what your particular needs or parameters are. Don’t wait, contact me, for Hawaii beckons!
Aloha, Jeanne
Note: In Hawaii, there is often a gathering of family and friends, and in a casual way stories are told of that days happenings, or past events. We call it “Talk Story.” My continued series will be about different places around Oahu with a bit of their history, and the many opportunities for you today. I would love to hear about your personal Hawaii memories to share, perhaps during the territorial days, like I was, growing up out Koko Head way. Hawaii is a special place and so are the people. Follow me as we discover a lifestyle best suited for YOU. Whether it is a new military move, a casual beach house, a downsized retirement home, a golf course fronted resort home-away-from-home, a grand residence with superb view, or a high rise condominium the choices and the Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers resources are many.

Having scheduled a couple showings there several years ago, Harbor Court quickly became one of my all-time favorite condo buildings. It’s gorgeous!
