Hospice of Kona Hosts 5th Annual Memorial "Love to Fish" Tournament

Hospice of Kona

The Bite is Back!

Yesterday, Hospice of Kona hosted its 5th Annual Memorial “Love 2 Fish” Tournament at the Honokohau Boat Harbor at 8 a.m., with a $250 entry fee and $100 going towards Hospice, all for a worthy cause.

You couldn’t have asked for a better day on the water; light winds and flat Kona lake waters. What a beautiful site to see, all of these boats on the blue Pacific. I wonder if there was anyone left on land. The camaraderie was high and the bite was on.

First place was given to TLC with a 157.5 pound Blue Marlin

First place was given to TLC, a private boat, catching a 157.5 pound Blue Marlin and second place going to Pacific Lady for a 22 pound Ono. I have to say they had more luck than my husband, me, and Belle, our German Sheppard. Our little boat caught a lot of laughs and enjoyment seeing Pygmy Whales and a Humpback Whale breaching and the famous honu (turtle).

With the luck of the Irish, we won’t give up, we are waiting for our next catch to be better than our marlin caught last year. Maybe the Kona Classic Fishing Tournament in June? So, as I always say, “stop wishing and go fishing!”
