Casual Elegance at Ocean Pointe

I have long known this house and its inhabitants. They are friends of mine and I love them. As a real estate agent, nothing is more conflicting than selling the home of someone I love, especially if they are moving far away. On one hand, I want to do a great job and wow them with my ability to market and sell their home. On the other, they are moving and I’m helping to facilitate that. Even if my instincts are telling me to make them stay, there’s a different reason that this property in particular is a challenge for me to sell.

Classic curb appeal (MLS# 201706610)

I admit that never once have I been in this home without rearranging the furniture in my mind. Not that my friend hasn’t done a great job arranging the furniture, but when I say rearranging the furniture, what I really mean is replacing it with my own furniture.

Noteworthy Features

I love this house. It’s a big house, almost 3,000 square feet. (Where do you find that on the island with an $865,000 price tag?) I love the size and I love the location. It’s a 5-minute walk to the beach from door to shore with your board tucked under your arm. It has elegance, but it’s not stuffy. It feels like a house from a favorite classic movie. Like if the characters in Father of the Bride were a family of surfers, this would be their house.

Speaking of brides, that’s exactly what I picture as soon as I walk through the front door. The grand staircase in the foyer of this home is just begging for a little life. I picture a bride gracefully gliding down the staircase to her father who is waiting for her at the bottom, weeping at her beauty – and the cost of the wedding.

Bridge to bedroom and dramatic staircase

The stairs curve slightly to create a little hug in the foyer that would fit a Christmas tree perfectly (if you’re into that whole sentimental Christmas tree in the foyer type of thing). There is a den to the left of the front door that can be used as a home office or fifth bedroom. There is even a bathroom with a walk-in shower right next to the den that would work wonders if an elderly relative was moved into the den.

The kitchen and family room are meant to party. There is no way whoever designed this house put the enormous kitchen island in there without picturing it filled with pupus and surrounded by friends and loved ones.

If there is more of a sense of occasion to your entertaining, then there is also a formal living and dining room to create your memories. Personally, I like a formal living and dining room because you can keep it clean, and when unexpected guests drop by, you can lead them into your spotless living room and look like a domestic goddess, even if the rest of the house needs cleaning.

Up the staircase are double doors leading to the sunny master suite. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk through the doors is the ocean view. The master faces East, and if you’re up early enough, you will be treated to a spectacular sunrise every morning. The spacious ensuite and oversized closets make this master bedroom the perfect start and end to your day.

The rest of the second level features three more cozy bedrooms with one accessed by crossing a bridge, another little feature that adds architectural character to this charming house. There is a full bathroom to service these rooms and the landing is large and airy.

The surprises continue in the backyard where you’ll find a large covered lanai and an extra carport in addition to a 2-car garage, making parking for three vehicles. A discreet pet enclosure leaves a space for your dog(s) and there is still room to play in the fenced yard, with lush mature trees and even some fruit trees.

91-1101 Kai Weke is located on a perimeter lot, meaning there are no neighbors behind the house to block any breezes, and the view from the yard is open sky. These are just another example of little features that make this house so special. But, don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself. Make an appointment or come to open house and hang out for a bit.
