One-Week Renting Allowed For Poipu, Kauai Private Homes

Kauai County has designated the Poipu Beach resort area as a Visitor Destination Area, or VDA, which allows for the option to private homeowners to offer one-week rentals (or shorter) if their homes are located:

1. In Poipu Beach Estates – near Poipu Beach, the Kiahuna Golf Course, and Poipu Beach Athletic Club
2. In Poipu Kai Resort – near Shipwrecks Beach, the Grand Hyatt Kauai, and the Poipu Bay Golf Course
3. In the Kukui’ula community – with its private Plantation Clubhouse, Spa and Golf Course

 
Private homeowners often choose Kauai property management companies, however, owners may self-manage their private homes and advertise on sites like Airbnb and VRBO, provided the property owner’s General Excise (GE) Tax and Transient Accommodation (TA) Tax license information and their on-island representative’s contact information is listed.
