Lahaina’s Famous Front Street Continues to be a Popular West Maui Hot Spot

Aloha, my friends! I have to tell you that everything about the ocean, beach, and town on the west side of the island of Maui is incredible. I was so stoked to live right on Front Street in Lahaina for the last year! I’ll talk more about that later, but first, let me tell you little about the Old Royal Capital of Hawaii known as Lahaina.

The beach on Front Street, Lahaina, Maui

Did you know that the coastal town of Lahaina was voted one of the top 10 best seaside towns in 2012? On top of that, Front Street was recognized as one of America’s great streets. It is a fantastic place to live, work, or enjoy all of the recreation that this island offers.

Lahaina is located on the west side of Maui and is about 35 minutes away from the Airport in Kahalui (depending on traffic and/or if you stop on the way to surf or look at whales 😉 The drive to Lahaina is one of the most gorgeous coastal drives in the world!

What is it Really Like to Live on Front Street in Lahaina?

Let me share with you a little about how great it is to live here. I can leave my Front Street home and stroll the beach to my office at the 505. Another short walk gets me a great cup of Kona coffee (only the best, grown in Hawaii, of course), and then I’m back home to enjoy the smell of the surf and the ocean breezes.

Over the last year, I think I used less than 8 tanks of gas. It’s so awesome having everything you need within walking, biking, or paddle boarding distance! I usually start my day around 5am and work on my real estate business (after a morning surf session at Break Wall or Puamana), and then when I get hungry, sometimes head off to the Banyan Tree park to eat my lunch. It’s a very relaxing place.

Depending upon my mood, I might watch surfers catch the big waves at the short board break, fisherman return with the morning catch, or giant cruise ships sail by.

When I watch the cruise ships, I really get a sense of how fortunate people are who live in Maui full-time! Unlike the cruise ship travelers who have to leave after a quick shore outing, residents of Maui are on somewhat of a permanent vacation. (Well, except for us full-time realtors who still work 60 hours a week!)

Recreational Activities in Lahaina, Maui

We (me, my wife, and our 4 boys) never seem to run out of great outdoor activities either. We take a lot of walks, surf when the waves are here, take hikes, and hit the mountain bike trails.

The west side of this island is full of pleasant beaches, awesome breaks (Shark Pit, Puamana, Guard Rails, Break Wall), nature preserves, and hidden single-track rides. There are also plenty of opportunities for boating, deep sea fishing, and almost any water sport that you can name.

Of course, any time that we don’t feel like cooking at home (which for my wife is most of the time!), there are dozens of area world-class restaurants to choose from. Most are a short walk from the house – Pacific’o and Kimo’s being our personal favorites. Although the dollar menu at McDonald’s is more often on the palate than I’d like to admit!

Front Street – Exclusive West Maui Real Estate

Most of the time, you will only find just a few Front Street Lahaina homes for sale. When a good one comes on the market, it usually sells fast. So, you gotta move fast. You are not the only one to understand that if you have ever dreamed of actually owning a home in a tropical paradise, Front Street is a really great place to do it.

Not only do you get to live in Hawaii, but you would also get to live in one of the best towns in the entire State on its most happening street! It’s a really great investment, too. Last time I checked, they are not building anymore Front Streets in Lahaina Maui.
