Buying Advice

You Love Maui?! So What Now?

You agree it’s Maui or Bust! Now what do you do?

The 5 Steps to Home Buying:

  1. Get Prequalified
  2. Do Your Research
  3. Contact an Agent
  4. The Fun Part
  5. PULL THE TRIGGER

Get Prequalified

There are a lot of mortgage lenders out there but not all mortgage lenders are created equal. Do your research, and when in doubt ask a friend who they would recommend. Personally, we at Hawaii Life recommend Dan Bardenhagen at Wells Fargo, Brady Spangler at Axia Home Loans, and Kellie Pali-Cruz at Creative Financial. By knowing how much you are pre-approved for your real estate agent can show you the best houses in a price range that you CAN afford.

Do Your Research, so You Don’t Have to Do Your Research

Make sure you are getting the best. This means different things for different people. Some of us like to choose who we work with through friend and family referrals; some of us like google reviews. The main point is not how you do your research, it’s that you do your research. You don’t want to be researching why something went wrong because you didn’t choose well in the first place.

Contact an Agent

We are here to help you! Our services are free to you. The seller pays both the listing and the buying agents commission, so use us! We want to see you in a home you love, at a price you love; with as little headache as possible. We are your eyes and ears. Trust in us so that you have a positive home buying experience.

The Fun Part

Look! It is key to see the properties with your own eyes because only you know what you want. As much as you can tell your agent, she/he will never have your exact thoughts on a property without you physically being there.

Pull the Trigger

Don’t hesitate. You know that feeling of standing at the top of a giant waterslide for too long. It takes the fun out; you get scared. You don’t want that! You want to slide down with a big smile on your face knowing that it’s going to be fun and you are going to come out with positive memories and experiences. A home, especially in Maui, is one of the happiest memories you can buy. It’s truly your own slice of paradise.

Aloha,
Lena
