Why Oahu Is My Favorite Island

I love traveling and experiencing Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island, however, my favorite island has always been Oahu. I like people and the pace here. After all, Oahu has close to 1,000,000 people on the island. So for someone who wants to feel the city life, it’s not hard to feel at home. The beautiful part about Oahu is that it also has the island life vibe with secluded beaches and open spaces. In 40 minutes, one can go from the heart of Honolulu and the luxury towers of Kakaako, to the fun and relaxing sandbar in Kaneohe Bay. Two worlds apart, but only a short drive away. I can say that I have never felt island fever on Oahu. There’s just too much here to notice that we’re actually on an island.

Kaneohe Bay

Aside from easy access to all kinds of shopping, public and private education, universities, numerous medical facilities (including a VA hospital), Oahu has a very diverse real estate market. Buyers can choose from numerous condos or homes and locations. The majority of condos are in Honolulu and can range from 300 sq ft studios to 4000+ penthouses with pools and amenities to amaze anyone. Single-family homes can be found throughout the island, and include new properties, beautiful homes with views, and pools. Whether it’s city living that someone desires or a laid back beach town like Kailua, Oahu has options for everyone.

Oahu has so many charming qualities and places. Oahu residents are lucky to be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches. Waikiki Beach is busy and fun, but there are many very secluded beaches around the island. Take in more views and nature by hiking one of many hiking trails around the island. Take the boat out to enjoy an afternoon on the water. Spend the day at one of many world-class golf courses. Enjoy one of many local farmers’ markets and a large selection of straight-from-the-farm fresh fruit and vegetables. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy island life with all the perks of a larger city. It’s easy to get away, even in Honolulu.

Oahu simply has it all. I’m forever in love with this beautiful place I get to call home.
