White Sands Beach

I LOVE WHITE SANDS!!!!

This is my favorite beach because it is where I live with a 5 minute walk downhill!

This is a beautiful beach with white sand most of the time, but with a strong surf the sand is picked up and moved out to the ocean.  When the ocean is calm you can see the white sand through the turquoise water.

We used to enjoy Jamesion Restaurant, but it has been gone for a couple of years and the coconut wireless says a new restaurant will be opening.  I love to walk to dinner, enjoy a wonderful dinner and a bottle of wine at the ocean’s edge and walk home!

White Sands features a large parking lot on the mauka side and the county is reconstruction the old parking lot on the makai side.  There are bathrooms and outside showers.

Most days there is a volleyball game going on that anyone can jump into!

White Sands features a new lifeguard station which makes everyone feel safer.

Last Sunday when I was enjoying the sun, the lifeguard called over her PA to “LEAVE THE TURTLES ALONE”.

Then as the waves picked up the lifeguard warned, “WHITE SANDS IS ONE OF 5 BEACHES IN HAWAII THAT HAS THE HIGHEST NECK AND BACK INJURIES.”

I always say, “If you are not under 12 or drunk, don’t go out there…”

Of course, everyone does and it is magical.
