Some of you may have already heard of the farmers’ market in Napili, on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. You may have heard about the very diverse, fresh produce, baked goods, jewelry, kambucha, art, etc. Or you may have heard of the very famous musicians playing at the market, amongst them George Kahumoku, a Grammy Award winner!!!
Going to the market on Saturday morning has definitely been the highlight of my weekend: I meet so many people that I know, I get some food and a treat for my daughter, I chat and I hang out. I connect and I feel like I belong.
So how great would it be to be able to just walk to the market and get some fresh food? Wailele Ridge is a new development in Napili area, on the mauka side of the highway, just above the farmers’ market.
Construction just started and the first seven buildings are set to be finished by September next year. Prices start in the low $400,000’s for 1-bed units and go up to mid $900,000’s for 3-bed units. This development will feature a Recreation Center with an amazing ocean view, pool, Jacuzzi tubs, fire pit, and fitness room.

This development Wailele Ridge, is trying to shut down all signs of agriculture. They are trying to remove the fruit stand, divert the road that residents in the agricultural zone above have used for 30 years. They are trying to remove the banana farmers from behind their project. It probably won’t be long before they have the buildings that house the farmers market removed. Their affordable housing clause – they are planning on building the affordable housing next to waste water station, main highway and massive overhead power poles. They have cut down the norfolk pines that they promised would be kept. Investigate these developers before you start promoting them.
