Trilogy Excursions is in the spirit of giving.
On Saturday, November 20th, Trilogy Excursions undertook its now annual tradition of giving thanks. Lanai residents lined up last week for the turkey and rice give-away that is sponsored by Trilogy, along with many other groups that include the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association, Lanai Community Health Center, Aloha House, and Malama Family Recovery Center.
The 1,000 turkeys and 1,000 bags of rice should be enough to provide a meal for all 2,500 residents of Maui’s sister island of Lanai. Many residents in the Lanai community are very grateful for the extra help during the holidays. Similar to most of the country, Lanai has a high unemployment rate, and many people are having to cut back on their holiday spending.
However, Trilogy has been doing this in good times as well as lean times. The tradition started over 20 years ago, when owners Jim and Rand Coon started giving turkeys away to their workers and customers. As the company grew, they seized the opportunity to do something positive for the community that helped support their business.
The Coons make clear that this is no publicity stunt. They feel it is a small way for them to say thanks to the Lanai community that has done so much for their business, and their family.
More about this event was written up on The Maui News, and the Hawaii Island Humpback Whale site. The Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary was also a contributor to the event.
Trilogy Excursions is a Maui company that offers Maui snorkeling trips, Molokini snorkeling excursions, and Lanai day trips.
