Are you wondering which island is best for you? Which island is best to buy a home? Or just to live on with your lifestyle? I am going to share a brief story of what island I ended up on and why I love it!
This shot is at the Private Beach Club at Hoakalei, one of my favorite spots on the island in Ewa Beach
The Big Island: My First Hawaii Home
Being a California girl, it was a big change for me to move to the islands in 2005. I first moved to the Big Island and bought my first investment home in Waikoloa along the Kohala Coast. I purchased a brand new home in Waikoloa Village along the 17th hole at the Waikoloa Golf Course.
My first home in Waikoloa Village on the 17th Fairways
This home was one of my favorites. It was definitely a resort-style laid back lifestyle living in the village. Very small community. They have an elementary school, churches, and a small shopping center (the Village Market), a few parks, etc.
Hapuna Beach Resort – one of my favorite places
Next Home: Kailua-Kona
Then a few years later, I wanted more to what lifestyle I was living at the time. I was in my early 30’s, so I decided to move to Kailua-Kona. I bought a beautiful home, big lot with a panoramic ocean view in a lovely neighborhood, and I loved it. But I was still missing something.
Home in Kailua-Kona; it was a beautiful home as you can see. Most homes on the Big Island are septic homes, which makes them have a custom flair…

Oahu Bound!
But! Then my husband and I had the opportunity to move to Oahu – and we are so happy we did! We love it!! We ended up moving to Ewa Beach and bought in Hoakalei. It is a lovely place with much to offer.
Hoakalei Amenities
Hoakalei homes are a very desirable market here in Ewa Beach and on Oahu. You can get a newer or brand new home in a beautiful tree-scaped neighborhood, with a private beach club with water crafts to play with, and private country club with an Ernie Els Golf Course. All three neighborhoods come with either a private pool, or a pool and gym and tennis court.
Association fees included on this home: cable, internet and telephone, pool, gym, tennis court.
This is me! Aloha! And I love my #HoakaleiLife here on Oahu.
Hoakalei is very close, like a few miles, from the next (second city) Kapolei, which includes all the shopping you need, with a government building, health care facilities, parks, schools K-12, brand new mall Ka Makana Alii ; the lists goes on and on.
I really do love living on Oahu. It’s like living in a big city with a Hawaii flair. There are so many options to eat, shop, beaches, schools, medical care, personal care, sport activities, relaxing, work choices, etc…I feel everyday there is a new place I hear about or see and it is always an adventure.
Here is one of my adventures to the North Shore of Oahu, to Turtle Beach, with a dear friend. It was a little rainy that day as you can see in the pic, but we sure did have fun.
Bike ride to the White Plains Beach | Starfish Cactus, a beautiful flower
White Plains Beach – this is another favorite spot of mine; I like to go right down the street from Hoakalei
Beautiful golf courses; Hoakalei Golf Course

Want to Know More?
This was a short story of some reasons Oahu is for me! There are a lot more reasons and I would love to tell you about them. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Living on two different islands, I have a lot to share 🙂
Warm aloha,
Oh, P.S.
I want to mention, yes, we have traffic. That is something you usually hear about first when you hear about Oahu, but I have to say it all depends where you work, live, and play. It is not that big of an island and there are a lot of good resources out there that are helping to make the traffic commutes better.
