To help fulfill the pent up demand for one bedroom units at the Honua Kai Resort and Spa in Ka’anapali, Maui – I am happy to announce my newest exclusive listing – Hokulani 618, well priced at $849,000. Representing this property is a special honor for me because of the strong relationship with my clients who are selling it; I helped them purchase the property back in 2011 (my first transaction at Honua Kai) and who have become the dearest of friends throughout the years.
What We Love About Hokulani #618
Hokulani #618 is a 1 bed/1 bath residence with 700 sq.ft. of refined living area and a very comfortable view platform on the covered lanai, which is 145 sq.ft. This property is priced to sell at $849,000 (MLS# 244146216)
Owners and guests alike at Honua Kai can’t get enough of the open floor plans, which are further enhanced by a seamless transition between outdoor and indoor living area through the glass Nanna wall doors. This property will comfortably sleep four with a king bed in the master bedroom and a pull out sofa here in the living room.
Here are a few words directly from the sellers:
There were many days when we were enjoying breakfast and whale watching out on our lanai when no one on the north facing timeshares at the Westin could be out on their decks…but our tucked-away lanai remained shielded from the elements. The “L” also let us enjoy the lanai more during the day, since there were “corners” of shade to escape the full force of the sun. We are situated in such a way that we could also watch sunsets over Lanai. In all the years we were in Maui under varying weather conditions, I don’t recall a single day when we couldn’t enjoy our deck!
Hokulani #618 is located on the south side of the Hokulani enclave at Honua Kai, which is the southernmost building. This property is especially well protected from the prevailing trade winds, which at times, can be rather strong at Honua Kai and is full of beautiful natural light.
From the sellers:
“Our favorite activity is watching the whales breaching while having breakfast on the lanai (one day Charles counted 65 sightings). The invisible outer wall of our condo pours light into the entire unit (condos elsewhere felt like caves by comparison). It has everything from beachfront snorkeling to hot tubs and pools to uncrowded beaches. Besides the beautiful fish, we can even hear the whales during our front yard snorkeling excursions. While we frequently see rainbows over the West Maui Mountains, the microclimate of Honua Kai is much less rainy than on the windward side of the island.”
Refined granite slabs, cherry cabinets, Bosch stainless steel appliances, porecelain tile, and lots of room to operate while making your favorite fish ceviche, or whatever you desire, while never losing site of that priceless view.
Love at First Sight
“It is hard for us to add to the list of superlatives that describe our ‘Condo in Paradise’. As you know, we considered many places throughout the globe for our purchase (Mexico, Panama, Cayman Islands) before deciding that Hawaii was the best for a variety of reasons, including unpredictable government regimes and increasing violence elsewhere.
After touring several of the Hawaiian Islands and looking at various condo listings online, we decided that Maui was the best place to invest our life savings in a vacation rental property.
Jeremy, we are grateful that you were very respectful of the price parameters that we gave you, but we’re glad that before we went our separate ways you opted to show us Honua Kai, even though it was more expensive. We didn’t know exactly what we were looking for, but when we found it, it was love at first sight. Maui is the best, and Honua Kai is the best that Maui has to offer.”
The master suite has a very comfortable and large king bed, an adjoining bathroom suite with a walk-in shower, a soaking tub, and a large granite slab with two separate sinks. One of the things I like most about this particular bedroom is that the glass door you see in the right side of the above photo leads directly out the lanai area and there are great views of the ocean from the bedroom.

What We Love About Honua Kai
- Honua Kai is the newest beachfront whole ownership condominium in West Maui, Hokulani was built in 2008 and Konea in 2009. Surrounding whole ownership buildings are 20-40 years older than Honua Kai.
- Honua Kai is zoned for short-term vacation rentals – occupancy rates, average daily rates, and overall rental income have steadily risen throughout the years and are some of the very strongest in all of Hawaii.
- The onsite Ho’ola spa is a full-service spa with natural treatments using exclusively Maile organic products.
- 38 acres of direct oceanfront land – Honua Kai is one of the largest resorts in all of Maui, which allows its owners and guests to experience the sensation of spreading their wings and enjoying all the open space.
- The onsite Aina gourmet market is a great place for sandwiches, fresh juices, a full-service coffee shop, and some basic sundries.
- The 5 different pool experiences at Honua Kai have something for everyone and are a major reason guests return every year.
- Dukes Beach House restaurant is directly onsite with excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, and great local entertainment. Dukes also takes care of the poolside beverage and food service. I have eaten at many of the restaurants in West Maui and truly feel that Dukes is one of the best values in the entire area.

Time to Leave Your Footprints in the Sand at Honua Kai
Honua Kai sits directly on Ka’anaapli North Beach with the islands of Lana’i (pictured below) and Molokai serving as the backdrop for your backyard personal playground of white sandy beaches. Enjoy miles of golden sand beach, which connect Honua Kai on Ka’anapali North Beach heading south towards Black Rock, Ka’anapali South Beach, Whalers Village, and all the way to Canoe Beach.
The reef fronting Honua Kai is vibrant and has an amazing plethora of tropical fish, turtles, and in whale season I have seen a few only about 50 yards off shore. This stretch is very special to both me and my wife as I proposed to her on this beach and enjoyed steak and lobster at Dukes back in 2011. It is easy to understand why this is a special place for so many who come from across the world to be here. It’s all about the memories made on Maui. I have been privileged to assist many buyer and seller clients at Honua Kai.
Honua Kai radiates with positive energy and I truly believe represents the optimal part-time ownership experience in all of Maui. Here is what one of my most recent buyer clients said after purchasing their second one bedroom at the resort: Konea #148 – The Last One Bedroom Developer Unit Sold at Honua Kai.
Hokulani #618 Ownership Experience
From the sellers:
“Honua Kai gave us the possibility of making this an investment rather than an expense. Cast in that light, it has been the best investment we have ever made. In 3 years, our condo has already substantially appreciated in price, and rather that being the possible financial burden that we feared (with condo fees & taxes), our condo immediately produced positive cash flow. It has been occupied 90% of the time, and our guests have been very respectful of the property. We have enjoyed meeting people from all over the world, and we are especially delighted by the well-behaved children of the many Canadian families who repeatedly buffer a few weeks of Canada’s cold winters with a stay at Honua Kai.”
