Before I tell you about my new listing in Maui Meadows, I would like to share my experience living in this awesome South Maui subdivision. Out of my 27 years living on Maui, over 10 years were spent living in Maui Meadows.

Maui Meadows is where you can find a bit more elbow room because most of the lots are zoned rural and have at least half an acre of land and you are allowed to have a main house and an ohana (accessory dwelling). These lots allow a very good separation between the main house and the cottage. This subdivision is literally located directly above the Wailea resort community with all the amenities that it has to offer, but there are no HOA fees in Maui Meadows. I used to walk my Australian Shepherd all over the hills of the subdivision and to Kewakapu which is the nearest beach and one of South Maui’s best! I also used those hills to train for my 1st triathlon race; if you can run those hills, you can run anywhere! Just be careful when walking or running around the neighborhood because there are no sidewalks in Maui Meadows.

Back to the property… A couple of weeks ago, I listed 3476 Akala Dr. which features a ½ acre lot with 4B/4B main house with a bit over 3,600 square feet of living space and over 750 square feet of covered lanai space. This home was completed in 2019, which makes it the newest construction available in Maui Meadows at the time this blog post was written. The current owners added 45 solar panels and three Tesla Powerwalls 2 ,which enables them to run the house at night using all the stored “juice,” and keeps the electric bill very, very low. Some of the other features are a saline pool with your own tiki bar and “kool deck” (does not absorb heat), an abundance of fruit trees such as mango, papaya, kumquat, starfruit, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, lychee, macadamia nut, lilikoi, fully fenced in with private electric gate entry and a 2B/1B detached ohana for additional rental income or extended family.
