Happy Aloha Friday! This weekend, we have St. John’s Kula Festival benefiting some great community resources. Additionally, the Chinese Moon Festival is back in person this year so be sure to get down to Lahaina to get your moon cakes! After scoring the moon cakes, you can choose from one of two seatings at the Champagne Hale at Cliff House. Whatever you do, enjoy it fully!
St. John’s Kula Festival 2022
St. John’s hosts the 38th Annual Kula Festival this Saturday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm across from Keokea Park. Event proceeds benefit Maui Cancer Resources and Malama Family Recovery Center. This Festival has helped many many nonprofits on Maui over the years. I grew up with this Church and have fond memories and great family friends still making this event happen. Woohoo!!
Park for free at the park and spend a day with the family. Highlights from the event include live music featuring Marty Dread. Additionally, there will be plenty of delicious local food options and an opportunity to bid in a silent auction. Moreover this year, the keiki zone has been expanded with an all-day wristband allowing access to many carnival games, a bouncy castle, arts & crafts, face painting, and fun snacks. Local crafters & vendors, a gift shop, a quilt show and an Upcountry farmer’s market with fresh local produce, plants and flowers will also be on site for the festivities.

Chinese Moon Festival: A Mid-Autumn Celebration (Zhong Qiu Jie) in Lahaina
Back in person for the first time since the pandemic, the Chinese Moon Festival is one of the LRF’s and Wo Hing Museum’s most special events. Traditionally, the Moon Festival is considered a celebration of harvest in gratitude for abundance. This year it is celebrated on Friday, September 16th and Saturday, September 17th.
Festival goers enjoy Chinese cooking lessons, an education on the history of Moon Festivals, lantern making, tea in the evenings and lantern release. I am so excited for this event because moon cakes are a such a special treat. Moon cakes can be ordered prior to the festival by visiting the Baldwin Home Museum on Front Street or calling the LRF office at 808-661-3262.

Champagne Hale at Cliff House
The Montage at Kapalua Bay will be seating the Champagne Hale at Cliff House this weekend. The pop up at Cliff House with epic views, champagne and pupus is the perfect way to cap off a day at the beach or pool. Offering 2 seatings at 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, there are a few options to make it work in your schedule.
