Aloha friends! Happy Father’s Day to all the special dads in our lives! This weekend on Maui brings the 3rd race of regatta season taking off from Hanakao’o Beach on Saturday morning. A great option for family fun this weekend is Family Science Night by the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.  Maui Ocean Center hosts a 90’s Night for their Sharks After Dark Series. In honor of Father’s Day, Hui No’eau is hosting a Maile style ti leaf lei making workshop. And finally, Zenshin Daiko hosts their 25th annual taiko festival concert.

Family Science Night

Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary is hosting a Family Science Night at the Visitor Center in Kihei. The event takes place on Saturday from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm. Dr. Marc Lammers, Sanctuary Research Coordinator, will be presenting. There will be a showing of a recent episode of the PBS Kids series “Wild Kratts,” which was partly filmed on the sanctuary’s research vessel and discusses the whale research taking place here in Hawaii. This is a great opportunity for keiki to meet a real whale researcher and ask questions about whales.
