Aloha friends! Regatta Championships this weekend! This is the last race of the season until States on August 5th. Sugar Beach Events is featuring Chocolat this weekend for its Movie Night Under the Stars. Additionally, Folks You Meet in Long’s is playing this weekend at the MACC. Ongoing is the Maui Film Festival Speed of Light Virtual Cinema.
Dougie Tihada Memorial Regatta
Saturday’s Championship Race is hosted by Napili Canoe Club and takes off from Hanakao’o Beach Park next to the Hyatt in Kaanapali and two doors down from our favorite Kaanapali Alii. Race starts at 8:00 am. Get there early. This is an all-day event. Check out Hawaiian Canoe Club for Race Schedule and more.
Movie Night Under the Stars – Chocolat
Sugar Beach Events presents Movie Night Under the Stars this Saturday night. The featured movie is Chocolat. Bring your blanket or beach chairs and enjoy the movie ocean side in the open air. Food and drinks will be available for sale. Movie starts at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Get there early so you can set up a good viewing spot. Go to Eventbrite for event info and reservations.
Folks You Meet In Longs
What a treat to have this show by Maui born Lee Cataluna here at the MACC for two days this weekend. Showtimes for Folks You Meet In Longs are Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Lee Cataluna’s hit premiered at Kumu Kahua in 2003 before becoming an award-winning book. This is a collection of monologues highlighting the various characters one might run into on any given day at Long’s. This show is not suitable for all ages so use your judgment.
2023 Maui Film Festival: Speed of Light Virtual Cinema
The Maui Film Festival is going virtual this year with 50+ film premiers. Watch from your couch in your jammies with your favorite snacks. All shorts and feature films are Maui Premieres from around the world. This year’s films highlight politically, culturally, and socially relevant films.
