Maui Weekend Events – December 8

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui delivers lots of great opportunities to get into the spirit and do some shopping as well as lots of arts and culture and music options.

Paia Bay Coffee & Bar is hosting a Heartbeat Silent Disco Friday night. South Maui Gardens hosts their 2nd Saturday Party featuring a holiday market and live music. Maui Mall Village is offering selfies with Santa and the Elves and a Zumba fitness dance class for tots to support its holiday food drive.

The MACC has quite the musical lineup this weekend. The Kingston trio plays Friday night, Henry Kapono on Saturday night and the Maui Pops Orchestra Holiday Pops on Sunday afternoon. ProArts Maui is offering a donation-based yoga class Saturday morning. The Reluctant Elf, a holiday sing-along show, has 4 showings this weekend. On Sunday evening, Eric Gilliom’s “White Hawaiian” takes the stage.

Silent Disco at the Paia Bay Coffee & Bar

Head to Paia Bay Coffee and Bar Friday night for a Silent Disco. There will be three channels of music. Dancing starts at 9:00 pm and runs until 11:50 pm.  $10 cover charge.

South Maui Gardens 2nd Saturday

South Maui Gardens – Hidden Oasis of Kihei hosts a community party every second Saturday of the month. This is a BYOB event and features eight local favorite food trucks. This weekend, there will be a Holiday Market featuring local Maui artisans and vendors. Also on deck this weekend is Maui Community Band with live music from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. This is a free event, but reservations are recommended.  You can reserve your spot at Eventbrite 2nd Saturdays Tickets.

Festive Holiday Music & Performance and Selfies With Santa at the Maui Mall Village

Every Saturday this month from 3:00 – 6:00 pm, head to Maui Mall Village for a plethora of holiday fun. These events are to support the Joyful Giving Holiday Food Drive benefiting Maui Food Bank. Selfies with Santa and the Elves for donations to the Food Drive or an unwrapped toy for the Laulima giving program. The feature this week from 5:00 – 6:00 pm is a Zumba Fitness Dance for Tots.

The Maui Arts and Cultural Center

Folk music lovers can enjoy The Kingston Trio on Friday night at the McCoy Studio Theater. Their music has influenced folk legends From Bob Dylan to the Avett Brothers.  Show starts at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Pre-concert food and beverage available in the McCoy Courtyard beginning at 5:30 pm. This event will be a collection location for the Maui Food Bank to support those affected by the wildfires.

Saturday night, enjoy a night of local favorites by Henry Kapono. This night celebrates The Songs of C&K 50-year Anniversary. Special guests Jerry Santos, Robi Kahakalau, and Shane Kahalehau. Show starts at 7:30. Pre-concert food and beverage available in the Yokouchi Courtyard beginning at 5:30 pm. This event will be a collection location for the Maui Food Bank to support those affected by the wildfires. Anyone bringing a donation will be entered into a drawing to win a guitar signed by Henry Kapono!

Celebrate the holidays island style this Sunday at the Castle Theater. The Maui Pops Orchestra feature Kalani Pea in their December 10 show. Music from his “Purple Hawaiian Christmas” will be performed along with holiday favorites.  Show starts at 3:00 pm. Pre-concert food and beverage available in the Yokouchi Pavilion from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

ProArts Playhouse Maui

ProArts Playhouse is offering a donation-based yoga class for the arts community. Classes to be held every Saturday in December at 9:30 am. You have 4 opportunities to watch The Reluctant Elf. This is a family-friendly show featuring all your favorite Christmas songs. What better way to find your Christmas cheer than to sing along with your favorites! There will be a show Friday night, two showings Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon that is already sold out.  Sunday brings the return of Eric Gilliom’s “White Hawaiian”. This show is so in demand that it is featured weekly on Sundays. Start time this week is 7:00 pm.
