Maui Weekend Events – August 9

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui brings us the Obon Festival, some great live music options and a movie premier oceanside. The Lahaina Obon Festival takes place this Saturday honoring ancestors and commemorating loved ones lost in the fires last year. Also on Saturday night, Kapena will be at the MACC. South Maui Garden’s 2nd Saturday features the House Shakers. Sugar Beach Events presents the Maui premier of At Her Feet this Sunday night.

The Original Kapena 40 Year Reunion Tour

Kapena celebrates 40 years with a tour. Kapena is a Hawaiian favorite that span many genres. Coming to the MACC this Saturday night. Special guests Three Plus, Malino, and Hammah House. Show starts at 6:00 pm. Doors open and pre-concert food and beverage available at 5:00 pm. Read more and tickets here.

2nd Saturday at South Maui Gardens

South Maui Gardens – Hidden Oasis of Kihei hosts a community party every second Saturday of the month. 2nd Saturday features 10+ local favorite food trucks. Also on deck is a night market featuring local artisans and vendors. The music feature this month is the House Shakers. This is a free event, but reservations are recommended. Reserve your spot here.

Lahaina Obon Festival

Kuhinia Maui and the Lahaina Hongwanji Mission team up to put on the Obon Festival this Saturday. Event will take place at the Lahaina Cannery Mall from 5 – 9 pm.  Obon is an annual Japanese holiday that honors ancestors. This year will also commemorate loved ones lost in last year’s wildfires. Festivities include food, games, entertainment and dancing under the stars. Local vendors will be on site too offering their arts and crafts.

At Her Feet Screening with Q&A, dinner and drinks

Sugar Beach Events presents the Maui premier of At Her Feet oceanside this Sunday night. Cast and Crew will be on site for a Q&A session. Dinner and drinks by Sugar beach events sold separately from tickets for entry and film viewing. Dinner at 5:30 and viewing at 7:30.
