Maui Weekend Events – August 30

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui features the Maui Film Festival, the Maui Open and the first MIL football games of the season. The highlight of the weekend is the Maui Film Festival. Head to the MACC for five nights of Maui premieres. The Maui Open also takes place this weekend at the Dunes at Maui Lani. And last but not least, MIL football start this week!

This year’s Maui Film Festival takes place through this weekend beginning Thursday and closing on Monday night. The festival offers 5 nights featuring 40 Maui premieres. Aside from the films, there will be live entertainment, music, hula, tributes, speakers, and more. Showtimes 4 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm nightly.

Food and beverage available for purchase from 4:30-10:00 pm on the Amphitheater Lawn each night. Bring your blanket or low back beach chair and enjoy a great night with your friends and family.

Maui Open

The Maui Open is back this weekend at the Dunes at Maui Lani. This 36-hole stroke play tournament is open to professionals and amateurs. Spectators must walk and are encouraged to stay in the rough areas. For more information, head to the Tournament Information Page.

MIL Sports

It is the first week of the MIL football season. Friday’s game is Maui High at Kamehameha Maui. Saturday night we have two games. Molokai plays at Lahainaluna and King Kekaulike meets Baldwin at War Memorial. Game start is 7:00 pm for all games.

We are in week 3 of MIL Volleyball. Division I plays during the week. Division II has some games this weekend. My niece is playing at my Alma Mater, Seabury, and they have started off the season strong. 2nd place Seabury will be playing 3rd place Maui Prep this Friday night at Maui Prep. Kulanihakoi takes on Lanai at Lanai and 1st place Hana takes on Molokai at Molokai this Friday night as well. All Friday night games start at 7 pm. Saturday morning Hana and Molokai will rematch at 10 am at Molokai and Kulanihakoi will rematch Lanai at Lanai in the afternoon at 1 pm.
