Continued Call for Aid as Maui Reels from Devastating Wildfires

Maui needs you. As fires ravage our beloved island, every act of kindness, every dollar, and every share counts. Here’s how you can make a difference.

Hawai‘i Life has achieved its initial target of matching $50,000 in donations. In response to the escalating need, we are doubling our matching commitment. Stand with us!

In collaboration with Noel Shaw on Oahu, Tom Tezak on Maui, and others, we are pleased to announce that we’ll be matching the next $50,000 in donations.

Barely a week has passed, and the numbers detailing the destruction are sobering:

In Lahaina, approximately 2,719 structures were destroyed. A staggering 86% of these, or around 2,338, were homes where memories were made and families flourished.

Kula too faced fire destruction. Here, 544 structures were exposed, with a heartbreaking 96%, or roughly 522 homes, being residential.

In total, Maui is grieving the loss of loved ones and more than 2,860 homes in just one tragic day. Acts of charity and kindness are vital now, more than ever.

The “Maui Strong” fund is an initiative by the Hawai’i Community Foundation, to provide community resilience with resources for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. The fund is currently being deployed to support Maui residents affected by the wildfires on Maui.

Hawaii Life is matching the next $50,000 donated through the Hawaii Life Charitable Fund, and then will transfer the entire amount to the Hawaii Community Foundation’s “Maui Strong” Fund.
