Anchored by the world famous Pu’u Olai, or Red Hill, the Makena State Park is home to 3 world famous beaches…well, maybe two world famous and one not so famous. Pu’u Olai is a 360 foot high cinder cone overlooking the Makena Beaches and surrounding areas.
There are numerous hiking paths, but it is advised to bring good shoes and water. You can come on a hike with me on my Youtube post below.
Let’s start with the most famous beach of them all, Big Beach. It is the most awesome one mile stretch of pristine white sandy beach you will ever find. The offshore reefs provide for great snorkeling and sea turtle watching. If the waves are big, it’s advised to skip the snorkeling.
I said that Big Beach was the most famous. Its sister beach, Little Beach, is the most infamous. Little Beach is a clothing optional beach. Although it’s not legal in Hawaii, people of all ages can be found there. Hope they remember to bring the sun block!
The beach is most popular on weekends, especially Sundays. The drumming begins around 3 p.m. and culminates at sunset. It’s a pretty amazing experience and I recommend a visit to little beach on Sunday if your schedule allows.
Black Sand Beach is the least know of the Makena State Park beaches. It is rarely visited because of its limited access. That’s one way to keep at least one part of Makena pristine.
Come with me on a tour of the Makena area.

In addition to having some of the finest beaches on the island, Makena is also known for some of the best real estate stock on the island. It doesn’t come cheap though. Prices for single family homes average $8 million and for condominiums, around $2 million. I have compiled a gallery of homes and a gallery of condominiums in the Makena area for you to take a look at.
If you are interested in making Makena your home, contact me.

An attention-grabbing discussion is worth a comment. I feel that you must write extra on this topic, it may not be a taboo subject however typically people are not brave enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
