Why Magic Johnson Was Wrong About Papaua Place in Napili, Maui, Hawaii
Papaua Place – A gated community off the Lower Road
Papaua Place is a residential gated community of ten homes plus a private tennis court on a lava rock point in Napili, Maui, Hawaii. One side borders Honokeana Cove, and the other side a small sandy beach. All the homes have spectacular ocean views, and most have ocean access. Magic Johnson owned a home on Papaua Place in the ’80s overlooking the sandy cove… he’s probably regretting he ever sold it.
Papaua Place and the homes along the Lower Road
The majority of these homes, plus the 8 estates along the bluffs to the South toward Alaeloa (Lower Honoapiilani Road), offer Sunsets in the ocean between Lanai and Molokai as well as whale watching and surfing in the winter season. This stretch of coastline bordering Kapalua is known for ideal weather: sunny with a breeze to your back, and light misty rains in the mornings. Located near world class surfing, golfing, restaurants, and spas, yet there are no rules or homeowners’ associations.

At Papaua Place, the yearly dues of $400 help pay for the gate and other various items, although gardening and trash are taken care of individually. A few residents live full-time on the street, but most are second homes or used for family visits. Several are permitted vacation rentals.
Snorkeling or diving in the protected Honokeana Cove is popular; turtle sightings guaranteed. The bay is fantastic for lap swimming–about the size of an Olympic pool. An intermediate surf spot with lefts and rights breaks on the point in the winter months and a black diamond spot, “Hole-in-the-Head,” breaks on the point north of the cove during North-West swells. Other popular activities include stand up paddling and spear fishing.

The Kapalua Plantation golf course next door is consistently rated #1 in Hawaii and is home to the PGA TOUR’s Tounament of Champions. Epic surfing at Honolua Bay is 10 minutes away. Two family favorite white sandy beaches, Napili Bay and Fleming Beach, are a swim and a walk away. The Montage and the Ritz Carlton are within walking distance and offer fine dining and full-service spas among other amenities.
Please call me with any questions on the home out on the point, MLS 380425 and MLS 377677, or other Maui real estate; my family owns a house on Papaua Place, so I am qualified to answer any questions or be of help.

Using ridiculous clickbait titles may get you hits, but it also just taught me to NEVER click on one of your articles again. This level of clickbait is what I expect from some cheap scammer on youtube, not someone selling luxury real estate.

> Hi Leonor,
If you read the article, Magic Johnson did own a home on Papaua Place in the ’80s. Papaua Place is well-known to old-time locals as the street where Magic had a house… my parents own a home there and we used to see him shooting hoops in the tennis court. I imagine he regrets ever selling the house on a private white sandy beach, hence the title. Thanks for reading.
