Love Where You Live – Reason 18 – The Hawaii Kai Dog Park

If you’ve ever been to the Hawaii Kai Dog Park aka the Elaine Dobashi Dog Park, you know it’s more than just a place for dogs to run around. It’s a simple, friendly space where people and pets come together, and where being part of the community just feels good.

Located on the corner Keahole Street and Kalanianaole Highway,  the park is clean, well-maintained, and fully fenced—making it a great spot for dogs of all sizes to safely play off-leash. Beyond the basics, it’s also a great place to meet neighbors, swap pet stories, and enjoy a relaxed, friendly vibe.

My grand dog George, a fun-loving labradoodle, absolutely lights up the moment he arrives. As soon as he sees  the parking lot, he knows exactly where he is.  His tail goes wild, and he’s ready to sprint through the gate and greet his furry friends.

Watching George run, play, and explore the park is always a highlight of the day. Whether he’s chasing a tennis ball, meeting new dogs, or just rolling in the grass, it’s clear how much joy he gets from being there—and it’s contagious.

A Place to Connect

In my Love Where You Live blog, I talk about the importance of feeling connected to the places we spend our time. The Hawaii Kai Dog Park really brings that idea to life.

It’s not just about the dogs—it’s about the people. Conversations happen naturally, whether you’re talking about the best local groomers, favorite hikes, or just laughing at the dogs being their playful selves. It’s a laid-back way to feel more connected to the community—and that always feels good.

The Hawaii Kai Dog Park is one of those local gems that adds real value to our Hawaii Kai communityl.  Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular like George, it’s a great reminder of how simple places can bring big joy—and help you truly love where you live.
