The Area

222 Pe´ahi is right in the heart of Haiku, on Maui’s North Shore. If the name Pe´ahi sounds familiar, that’s because it’s also the name of the famous big wave surf spot, Pe´ahi/Jaws.

Jaws is actually right down the road from 222 Peahi, you can hear the boulders rolling in the surf when the waves really pick up. Another surf break about 10 minutes away is Ho´okipa Beach Park. Ho´okipa is known for being a world-class windsurfing and surfing spot with multiple breaks along the park. Aside from water sports, I love Haiku for the food! My favorite restaurant is Nuka sushi in Haiku town; it pains me to think about how much money I’ve spent eating there. If you’re looking for great breakfast and coffee, Baked on Maui in the Pauwela Cannery has great coffee and even better baked goods.

Haiku also has the essentials for daily life, there is the Pauwela Store which carries a great variety of organic products. For your weekend around the house jobs, you can stop by Haiku Hardware or the local True Value and find most everything you need. Haiku has done a great job at remaining a small local town that offers everything you need to make life comfortable.
