What is Koloa Plantation Days?
This is Kauai’s largest summer celebration and during this event visitors get to enjoy a glimpse into Koloa’s Old Historic Sugar Mill days. This is a remembrance of how plantation camps brought together immigrants from around the world including Japan, Korea, China, the Philippines, Europe, and the Azores all working together on these sugar farms – and ultimately forming Hawaii’s diverse cultural mix.
This is your opportunity to savor some of Kauai’s distinctive culture and be part of the island’s ohana (family). Join in the fun and help Kauai celebrate the blending of many peoples that form these islands called Hawaii. Check out the complete schedule of activities on their website.
Poipu’s Kiahuna Golf Village
While in Poipu, let us tell you about the Kiahuna Golf Village that is surrounded by the beautiful Robert Trent Jones II designed golf course. This is one of the most sought after residential communities in Poipu, close to shopping, dining, activities, and the beautiful beaches on the south shore in this small community consisting of only 90 homesites.
We have just listed a beautiful, custom home on the 10th Fairway of this golf course. This 4 bedroom, 4 bath is an owner/builder home and no expense was spared during building as will be seen in the quality of construction and the high end selection of materials. This home was designed to take full advantage of views across the restful golf course to the beautiful Kauai mountains and the blue Pacific. (This home will not be available in the MLS until Monday, July 23.)

Yes, I found it hard to believe when I first moved to Hawaii that we have such a rich “western-style Cowboy history” and then learned that the Parker Ranch on the Big Island had been one of the largest cattle ranches in the world. Our Paniolo’s (Cowboys) had big challenges in front of them before ships were able to dock. I’m told that they had to swim the cattle out to the cattle ships while on their horses–and hope that the cattle or one of them–could successfully avoid a shark attack. Now that took real cowboy guts.

Cate, yes, this home is exceptional. It is some of the finest craftsmanship I’ve seen on this island. The builder and owner of this home has mansions he has built that have been featured in “Dream Homes” book, and also his homes have been featured in Architectural Digest. The new owners of this home will have truly found that “needle in a haystack” and found a treasure rarely available on Kauai. Lucy
