Aloha dear friends,
It is very exciting times here on Big Island Hawaii, as many of you have heard our Volcano, Kilauea started erupting on 29 September 2021 and tourists are flocking to the Kilauea Crater to see the magnificent glow of Mother Earth’s red lava.
The sunsets have been epic in Hawaii due to the Vog, as it creates this vibrant red sunset, reminds me a lot of South African sunsets, where we have dust in the air and creates a magnificent red Sunset.
In many cultures volcanoes have a powerful spiritual embodiment and can represent deep emotions that are flowing out that may be suppressed and or new knowledge being awakened on a deeper level.
Seeing the Kilauea Eruption
Kilauea is on the South East side of Big Island Hawaii and is an off vent for the Mauna Loa Mountain. In the ancient myths of Hawaii, Kilauea is the home of Pele, the Hawaiian Fire Goddess. When you visit the powerful Kilauea Volcano please make sure to take a gift or an offering to Pele. You can do some research and find out what particular gifts and offerings you may present. Always enter sacred sites such as Kilauea Crater with the utmost respect and an open heart.
I have had many friends who have taken a tour on a helicopter over the crater to see the magnificent glow of the lava and it is definitely a bucket list adventure.
Many of my potential clients ask how far the volcano is from the Kohala Coast area where they are looking to purchase properties. It’s over a 2-hour scenic drive from the Kohala Coast to the Volcano National Park to view the crater.
Hawaii Lava Zones
Here in Hawaii we have different lava zones which is very important to consider when purchasing a property. Lava zone one represents a hazardous location to build or buy a house and lava zone eight or nine it is not in any threat of volcanic activities, so please consider this when buying properties to check out the lava zones.
Volcano National Park
At the Volcano National Park, there is a wonderful hotel the “Volcano House” where you can sit and have cocktails or dinner as you watch the power of Mother Earth presenting herself. At this time the entrance fee is $30.00 and is good for a week to re-enter the park.
It is such an epic wonderland as you enter the National Park, you will see spurts of smoke rising above the surface. And there is a one mile hike where you can have a closer look at the lava.
I have a lot of respect for the element of fire, especially since my house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida burned down 10 years ago. There is nothing more humbling and freeing than losing everything. Thank goodness for my practice of yoga, as it has taught me non-attachment and understanding that “things” do not make one happy, happiness comes from within.
Thank you for reading my blog. I wish you a blessed day,
One Life
