Could Kaloko Mauka, located in North Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, be a match for your next real estate purchase?
I help many clients answer the question, “Where on the Big Island should I live?” It can be a daunting task to figure out as the Big Island has so many options to choose from:
Do you want to be near the beach?
Beach chairs are waiting on the Kona Coast to be filled…
Do you want to have tropical and lush landscape surrounding you?
A papaya rainbow could be your thing
Do you want the restaurants, activities, and shopping to be nearby?
Fresh fish makes for some great sushi restaurant options…
Do you like a cool climate?
The Big Island has plenty of elevation changes to bring you up to cooler climates…
Do you want acreage and privacy?
A driveway on a lot in Kaloko Mauka with a partial ocean view…
If you answer “YES” to all these options — it can seem like an impossible set of options to find a match… but I think Kaloko Mauka has it all.
Kaloko Mauka is what I like to call “the best of both worlds” when it comes to buying a place to live near Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kaloko Mauka is great because it is close to all the amenities of Kona (restaurants, shopping, beaches, activities, etc.) and because it is tucked away up the hill so you feel private and away from it all at the same time! The extra bonus is the ability to buy at various elevations — you can avoid the heat that comes with living in Kona town.
What is Kaloko Mauka Subdivision?
Kaloko Mauka consists of multiple agriculturally zoned subdivisions. There are uncleared lots with forest, cleared lots, gated communities, homes that are already built and more…
Where is Kaloko Mauka?
Kaloko is located in the hills above North Kona.
Why would you choose Kaloko Mauka?
If you want to have a little bit of privacy — then Kaloko might just be for you.
Large parcels rather than standard lots are the norm in Kaloko Mauka. You can get an acre, 5 acres or more and create your own private retreat.
The subdivision starts at the bottom of the “upper road” above Kona around 1000 foot elevation and goes up from there. As you go up — the temperature goes down — so you can choose how high you want to be and find the right fit for your lifestyle.
Proximity to Town
The subdivision has access to Mamalahoa Highway mostly referred to as the “upper highway” which enables you to get easy access to Ka’iminani street that leads right to the airport, or you can head down Hina Lani Street and that takes you to the New Industrial Area with favorites Home Depot and Costco. If you don’t take those routes you can head straight down the highway and that takes you right into the heart of Kona where you will find shopping, restaurants, and beaches via Palani Street or Henry Street.
County Water and Electric
I know that some people want to be off grid and take care of their own utilities — but it is nice sometimes when you know you don’t have to worry about the sun shining to get hot water. Kaloko has its share of sunny and cloudy days so it is nice to know that there is power running up the main Kaloko road. I can help you to make sure the smaller subdivision you are interested in has already established electric and water to the lots.
