West Oahu continues to grow in all ways including the addition of new grocery store options. The latest store to open is the much anticipated Foodland Farms at Ka Makana Ali’i shopping center. Located on the backside of the mall near 24 Hour fitness, the pet store, and many new medical, food, and other newly opened businesses. The build-out seemed to take forever but the wait is over and the store is beautiful. Plenty of parking and easy access from a few sides makes this location and mall an easy stop.
Following Covid protocols you can make an appointment online, wait in a social distance line for entry, or order groceries online for curbside delivery. They have all the options covered for convenient shopping.
The minute you walk into this store, you realize its much more than just a grocery store. This center offers the chains first-ever full-service restaurant and bar. Yes, you read that correctly a restaurant and a full bar in a grocery store, WOW. Walled off with wood dividers the restaurant and bar feel separated from the store itself offering more privacy. The restaurant has a huge list of cocktails and food items with an emphasis on farm to table options. I do not suppose they are going to run out of items being in the center of a grocery store.
The location is almost divided in half with an array of prepared foods and fresh specialty sections for Poke, Burritos, sandwiches, and easy to cook meals from Calabash. This is full-service staff prepped, customer chosen ingredient meal options, and also prepacked items. The store also offers a wide assortment of take and bake items, sauces, fresh juices, and so much more. This location does have the HI Steak take out food restaurant kiosk set up near the checkout for an upscale fast-food take out option.
Of course, the store has all the regular favorites such as fresh seafood, fresh butcher, and an enormous selection of organic groceries. This is all in addition to a floral section, Hawaii specific gifts, and the traditional grocery store items all with a full selection of beer, wine, and spirits.
One would think its just a grocery store if you have seen one you have seen them all but that is not true with this Foodland Farms, its amazing. The aisles are wide, the signs and graphics are updated and the experience is fantastic. This is a place you can stop and get all the regular items and also healthy prepared food to take home for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
West Oahu continues to grow with new commercial shops and restaurants and a plethora of new residential developments. If you have not seen West Oahu lately its time for a visit. The days of traveling to town for goods and services have passed and West Oahu? Kapolei is now truly the second city.
